If you are getting a recurring password error such as doesn't match the problem is likely with your cookies
Here's what's happening. The main home site at Lancairpilots has set up some info about you on your computer, including your password. Unfortunately, it stores that password differently than this site store passwords, SO EVEN IF THEY ARE THE SAME - THE READ DIFFERENTLY.
I have gone back and modified the Main site, so that if it needs to store your password ever again, it will call it by a different name (pass) than these forums call your password (password). This will stop the mainsite from overwriting your passwords, which is what was happening here!
However, you still have to manually delete that one old password file on your machine to be able to register here for the first time (it won't erase your mainsite password don't worry)
Here's how you do it:
Go to your browser Preferences and find your cookies
***From Lancair Fan "FYI - For those using Internet Explorer Version 5.5 - You must go Tools / Internet Options / Select the Security Tab / Press the Custom Level Button / and then disable both of the options in the Cookies section. Once I did this I was able to register correctly...."
Then - delete the cookie named password that is in the area for lancairpilots.org
NOTE: Some browsers like Internet Explorer can do a tricky thing here. If you have to delete say 4 or more cookies, the time that can take is often more than 30 seconds. Some Browsers are set to automatically update cookies every 30 seconds or so, which means if you are not careful you will not have deleted your cookie!
The easiest way to avoid this is to choose "Work Offline" from the file menu.
Then delete the cookie and save it deleted.
Once you've done that - and made sure to save the changes to your cookie area, then you should have no problem joining!
With clean cookies and the clean address you will be set to join!
And - you never have to log off or on again
