View Full Version : forum dates
Why are the dates old when I sign on to the forms site? Currently the earliest date for a post being shown is 6/13. When I go to the bottom of this list and then ask for post from last 2 days I then get current/new post.

I am not sure exactly why this happens, but I noticed it using IE 5.5. What you need to do is clear your disk cache and then set it so it is deleted with every session.
In IE, from the "Tools" menu chose "Internet Options ..." On the dialog that opens, click "Delete Files ..." Check "Delete all offline content" and click "OK".
Next, click "Settings ..." in the "Internet Options" dialog. Set the "Check for newer versions of stored pages" to "every visit to the page" and click OK.
You should then be OK. You might have to do this again from time to time.
I suspect that the forum pages are not providing any way for IE to tell that the page is changing from day to day. Or there is a bug in the way IE determines the cache usage.
Actually, it's that IE is "lazy" and looks in its cache to see if there is a version of the page you are looking at in there. Unlike other browsers, it only checks to see if that very page has been modified, which forums do not show, so basically IE keeps showing you the same thing.
Unless you tell it to always load from the net, which is what has been correctly explained above.

This is good info. I have been having the same problem, depending on which computer I log in from. Might be wroth a comment to the general forum.
